Abuja, Nigeria- The iNews Times | United States lawmaker Riley Moore has raised alarm over the recent killings in Jos, Plateau State, describing the incident as part of a troubling pattern of attacks targeting Christians during religious periods.
Reacting on his X account, Moore said reports indicated that at least 10 Christians were killed in Jos on Palm Sunday.
He alleged that the attackers, whom he described as radical Islamic terrorists, carried out the assault using both gunfire and machetes, calling the incident “sickening and unacceptable,” though not unexpected.
Moore further claimed that such attacks have become frequent, particularly during Christian holy days, noting that similar incidents have reportedly occurred during major religious observances in recent times.
He urged Nigerian authorities to take urgent steps to strengthen security ahead of the Easter period, warning that failure to act decisively could have consequences for Nigeria’s relations with the United States.
Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has imposed a curfew in affected areas, while security agencies continue efforts to restore calm and prevent further violence.
