ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The US Embassy in Abuja has warned Nigerians about the grave consequences of visa fraud, stressing that providing false information or submitting forged documents could attract a permanent ban from entering the United States.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, the embassy said visa fraud carries severe penalties under US immigration law, noting that anyone found guilty of lying or using fake documents risks being permanently barred from obtaining a United State visa.
The warning came as Unites State Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, held talks with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, during which both officials explored areas of bilateral cooperation.
According to the embassy, the United States remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria on matters of shared interest.
The meeting also took place against the backdrop of heightened diplomatic focus on Nigeria’s security challenges. In recent months, some United State lawmakers have raised concerns over attacks on communities, especially in the North and Middle Belt, describing them as serious infringements on religious freedom and calling for closer cooperation between both countries to safeguard vulnerable groups.
