…says WOW Conversations 004 presents a unique opportunity to address pressing issues affecting Nigerian women

Arrangements have been concluded for the 4th Annual Women’s Conference of The Worldwide Organisation for Women (WOW) Africa, a leading NGO championing SDG5 – Gender Equality in Nigeria and across Africa, tagged, “The WOW Conversations 2025,” The iNews Times reports.

Director of Media, WOW Africa, Ify Aronu-okafor who disclosed this in a statement said the conference themed, “Beyond Boundaries: Women, Effective Visions, and Capacities for Global Change” promised to be a landmark event.

She said the event would be building on insights from the 69th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW69) held at the UN Headquarters in New York in March 2025.

The statement reads in part, “According to Attorney Amaka Akudinobi, Executive Director of WOW Africa, ” The WOW Conversations 004 presents a unique opportunity to address the pressing issues affecting Nigerian women and girls.

“These include cultural stereotypes that limit their potential, social stratification that perpetuates inequality, and the pervasive violence against women and girls that hinders their progress.

“Our focus areas include women’s education, health, political participation, governance, social justice, poverty alleviation, and youth empowerment, with a particular emphasis on dismantling harmful gender norms and promoting inclusive societies.

“Moreover, we recognize that promoting successful families living is crucial for building resilient communities, where individuals can thrive and contribute to sustainable development.

“The theme for this year’s The WOW Conversations is “Beyond Boundaries: Women, Effective Visions, and Capacities for Global Change.”

“We are confident that deliberations at the program will chart clearer pathways for women’s empowerment in Nigeria, fostering impactful change and challenging systemic barriers that hold them back.

“The conference boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including Keynote Speaker, Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice Awka, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno Esq. mni;

“Others are Deputy Director, Centre for Gender Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Ifeoma Ezinne Odinye; and Head, Product and Market Development, Anambra State Coordinating Office, National Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mrs. Edith Ikenye, among others.

“Distinguished guests, including prominent men and women, are expected to attend this historic event scheduled for May 24th, 2025, in Awka.

“WOW Africa is poised to drive meaningful conversations, promote gender equality, and empower women to reach their full potential, free from the shackles of stereotypes, violence, and systemic inequality.”
