INEC deploys agents for voter register assessment in Anambra

…as INEC DG urges the voter register assessment agents to approach their job with utmost sense of patriotism.

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times reports that the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) has restated its commitment to meticulous planning and execution of programmes and activities.

Chairman, Board of the Electoral Institute (BEI), Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, disclosed this in a message to the capacity building training, organized by the Electoral Institute (TEI) for field agents engaged for its Voter Register Assessment (VRA), ahead of the Governorship Election in Anambra State.

The VRA is the brainchild of The Research and Documentation Department of the Electoral Institute (TEI), designed to provide a detailed evaluation of registered voters and demographic records, facilitating targeted interventions.

In his message to the occasion, Board Chair described it as another demonstration of INEC’s meticulous approach to planning and execution of its programmes.

“We are all fully aware that activities towards conduct of the Anambra Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025 have gained traction with the ongoing conduct of the Continuous Voter Registration in 326 RAs and the INEC Anambra State Office.

“VRA is about improving the reliability of the Voters’ Register, and thereby safeguarding the electoral process for the delivery of fair, free, credible, peaceful and inclusive election.

“Consequently, you must as a matter of duty and responsibility, conduct the survey with the highest sense of integrity, credibility and transparency.

“The Commission counts on you and I urge you all to justify the confidence it reposes in you,” Prof. Zuru appealed.

In his message to the field agents, the Director General of the Institute, Prof. Ibrahim Sani, explained that the exercise is meant to enhance reliability of the voters register.

Represented by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Anambra State, Dr Queen Agu, the DG called on the field agents to approach their job with utmost sense of patriotism.

“This study will streamline CVR with the process of improvement of the reliability of the national voter register.

“Participants have been carefully selected to receive proper training before being deployed to the various local governments, RAs and PUs in the State to administer the instrument which will be analyzed.

“The report of the exercise will be sent to the Commission. Successful voter register assessment can only be achieved using accurate data.

“I therefore urge you to take this workshop seriously as the Commission is committed to the improvement and the reliability of the national voter register.

The REC, Dr Agu, in her personal capacity, urged the field agents to rank the interest of Nigeria above other mundane considerations.

“If you get the information with a balanced mind, it will positively affect the outcome.

“But if you are biased, it will also impact. Remember that you are serving Nigeria at this point.

“What you do today will affect your children, your grandchildren, your great-grandchildren in the future.

She urged them to be good and reliable survey enumerators contributing towards salvaging the country.

“Be focused and committed in what you are doing. We have no other home except Nigeria.

“You go to London, America, everywhere, you are coming back to Nigeria whether dead or alive.

“Always bear in mind that there’s one man – the supreme being, the Chief Executive Officer, Commander-in-Chief of the whole universe, and that is God.

“At any point in time, he comes to assert his authority on this earth. He is the one we are accountable to.
