BENUE, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects  allegedly found with human parts.

Briefing journalists in Makurdi on Thursday, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emenari Ifeanyi, made the disclosure.

He explained that the suspects were arrested on October 22 in Okpokwu Local Government Area by operatives of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, who subsequently handed them over to the police.

He stated that the suspects were found with a human head, lap, and heart, and have since been arraigned in court following the conclusion of investigations.

Ifeanyi further disclosed that between mid-September and the end of October, the command arrested 181 suspects for various offences, including armed robbery, cultism, banditry, culpable homicide, and unlawful possession of firearms.

According to him, within the same period, the command recorded 14 homicide cases, 12 armed robberies, four kidnappings, 16 incidents related to banditry or terrorism, and three cult-related offences.

He added that police operations during the review period led to the recovery of 15 firearms, 67 rounds of ammunition, three stolen vehicles, and the rescue of 23 kidnapped victims.

The Commissioner noted that continuous clearance operations in the Sankera axis, covering Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo Local Government Areas, resulted in the arrest of over 70 suspected bandits, the destruction of criminal camps, and the return of displaced residents to their homes and farmlands.

He also revealed that raids carried out in Otukpo and Ohimini LGAs on October 25 led to the arrest of 39 suspected armed robbers connected to previous attacks on security personnel.

Ifeanyi further announced that 445 officers and men of the command had recently been promoted, commending the strong collaboration between the police and other security outfits, including Operation Whirl Stroke and the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, in sustaining peace and security across the state.
