‎The trip marked the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years, and Tinubu became the first Nigerian president to be received by a British monarch at Windsor Castle.

‎Nigeria and the UK, which share longstanding historical ties, used the visit to deepen cooperation in key areas including immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

‎At Windsor Castle, the royal hosts invited the President and First Lady to a special exhibition from the Royal Collection featuring Nigerian-related artefacts. The visit also included private talks between the King and the President, as well as engagements with organisations involved in interfaith dialogue at both national and international levels.

‎A state banquet was later held by the Royal Family in honour of the Nigerian delegation.

‎On the sidelines of the visit, President Tinubu also met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street. The meeting strengthened bilateral ties and resulted in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding covering trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation.
