Osita Chidoka mourns Muhammadu Buhari

…my criticism of Buhari was never out of bitterness, but borne of a firm conviction that Nigeria’s vast potential demands the highest standards of leadership, Chidoka explains.

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times reports that the Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has extended his condolences over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, calling on Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s leadership journey and recommit to higher standards in governance.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Chidoka acknowledged Buhari’s passing as a solemn moment but described it as an opportunity for sober reflection rather than mere mourning.

“I extend my condolences to his family and all Nigerians who mourn him. May God grant them comfort in this time of loss,” Chidoka said.

Notably, the former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps revealed that Buhari remains the only Nigerian Head of State he never met personally – a fact he linked to his consistent public criticism of the late president’s leadership.

“This was never out of bitterness, but borne of a firm conviction that Nigeria’s vast potential demands the highest standards of leadership,” Chidoka stated.

He further urged the nation to see Buhari’s chapter in Nigeria’s history as “a cautionary tale” and a reason to strive for unity, justice, and prosperity.

“It is my considered view that, as a nation, we reflect on his chapter, as a cautionary tale, in our collective journey and continue to build a Nigeria that learns from every season,” he said.

Despite his criticisms, Chidoka reaffirmed his faith in Nigeria’s resilience and called for a renewed commitment from citizens to hold leaders accountable.

“May this moment renew our shared commitment to demand more from those who lead us, to rebuild what has been broken, and to lift our nation to the greatness that lies ahead,” he said.

Chidoka concluded with a prayer for the late president, asking God for forgiveness, peace, and mercy on his soul.
