…as APC accuses Wike of disrespecting family values by dragging other people’s wives into politics.
The iNews Times reports that the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his allegations against Judith Amaechi, wife of former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike alleged that Judith Amaechi received N48 billion from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to train Niger Delta women, claiming former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami covered her.
But Darlington Nwauju, the state APC Publicity Secretary loyal to Amaechi, responded by challenging Wike to facilitate the release of the NDDC audit report to prove his claims.
Nwauju accused Wike of disrespecting family values by dragging other people’s wives into politics and questioned Wike’s respect for womanhood and his own wife.
In a statement, Nwauju expressed empathy for Nigerians who have been entertained with “a cocktail of lies, half truths and the usual double speaks” following Wike’s declaration that he would resign his position if the NDDC audit report is released without indicting Judith Amaechi.
Nwauju stated, “This goes to tell so much of his personality traits. The shame of dragging other people’s wives into the political arena while clothing himself with a feeling of self-importance, does confirm the fact that Minister Wike has no respect for family values.”
Nwauju urged Wike to instigate the publication of the NDDC audit report for Nigerians to see and read for themselves, including the list of awards/cash releases from the NDDC to his cronies and himself.
He also suggested that APC apparatchiks consider adopting Wike as Spokesperson of the party or Presidential Campaign Director General for the 2027 elections to measure his popularity.
The controversy surrounding the NDDC audit report has been ongoing, with Wike demanding its release to shed light on alleged financial misappropriation.
Wike claimed the report contains evidence that implicates Judith Amaechi in a multi-billion naira scheme and has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release the report.
The forensic audit, initiated in 2021, investigated the NDDC’s financial transactions and project implementations from 2001 to August 2019. Wike alleged that the report was deliberately buried to protect those who might be exposed for fraud.
