…the youths insist nobody should be allowed to enter or leave the community until the government takes concrete steps to address the situation.
Angry Youths of Owukpa, Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State, on Monday took to the streets to protest the recent abduction of female traders by suspected armed herdsmen.
The iNews Times reports that the incident occurred on Saturday around 7 p.m. near the Eyiupi community, where the attackers ambushed a Benue Links vehicle traveling from Orba market in Enugu to Owukpa, kidnapping several female passengers.
The protesters, who are demanding action from the government to rescue the victims, blocked the Orokam-Owukpa-Okpoga road, causing disruptions to traffic and stranding travelers from Enugu and neighboring communities.
The youths insisted that nobody should be allowed to enter or leave the community until the government takes concrete steps to address the situation.
The iNews Times learnt that the kidnappers have not made any demands or contacted the families of the victims since the incident.
The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in the area, with the community calling for increased vigilance and protection from the authorities.
The case is still ongoing, and the community awaits the safe return of the abducted traders.
