…the Free JAMB scholarship initiative aligns with the youth-focused education policies of Tinubu.
Onitsha, Nigeria — The iNews Times, reports that the Free JAMB scholarship initiative of the South East Renewed Hope Agenda has captured 10,000 students in Anambra State ahead of the 2026 examination.
The Free JAMB scholarship initiative commenced with the registration of 10,000 students under the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination support programme.
Flagging off the programme in Onitsha, National Coordinator of SERHA, Belusochukwu Enwere, said the intervention forms part of a broader educational support scheme targeting 50,000 students across the South East geopolitical zone.
He explained that the Free JAMB scholarship initiative is designed to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while expanding access to tertiary education for indigent but academically qualified candidates.
Describing the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board as a critical requirement for admission into higher institutions, Enwere lamented that many brilliant students are unable to participate due to financial constraints.
He disclosed that the Federal Government has established the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to provide financial support for students seeking tertiary education, urging prospective beneficiaries to obtain their National Identification Number to access the scheme.
According to him, the Free JAMB scholarship initiative aligns with the youth-focused education policies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at promoting equal access to education and strengthening human capital development.
Enwere urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity through adequate preparation, describing the scholarship as a vote of confidence in their academic potential.
Earlier, SERHA Coordinator in Anambra State, Comrade Alphonsus Muonagolu, expressed optimism that students drawn from the 21 local government areas would benefit from the programme.
Some beneficiaries, including Ezenwabasili Cynthia and Chizoba Vincent, described the Free JAMB scholarship initiative as timely support that would enable them pursue academic aspirations without financial difficulty.
They noted that the programme would significantly reduce parental burden and improve chances of gaining admission into tertiary institutions nationwide.
