…Judge Allison Burroughs blocked the policy, citing potential “immediate and irreparable injury” to Harvard university.

The iNews Times reports that a United States federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order against President Donald Trump’s executive order barring Harvard University from enrolling international students.

Judge Allison Burroughs blocked the policy, citing potential “immediate and irreparable injury” to the university.

The order was part of a broader conflict between the university and the Trump administration, with the government arguing that the ban was necessary for national security.

Trump’s administration accused the university of failing to address antisemitism on campus and having “extensive entanglements” with foreign nations, which allegedly infringed on the civil rights of students and faculty.

The administration’s battle with the university began when Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revoked the certification allowing Harvard to host international students.

But iNews Times however learnt that this decision was also blocked by the courts.

The latest executive order would have prevented international students from enrolling at Harvard for six months.

Harvard President Alan Garber stated that the university is preparing contingency plans to support international students who might be affected.

The university has filed an amended lawsuit accusing the Trump administration of retaliating against the institution for exercising its First Amendment rights.

The university has a significant international student population, with nearly 7,000 foreign students making up 27% of its population for the 2024-2025 school year.

Harvard has however assured its international students that it will continue to protect them and ensure they have access to education.

The court’s decision allows the university to continue enrolling international students temporarily.

The university’s commitment to protecting its international students and ensuring their access to education remains unchanged.

The Trump administration’s efforts to restrict Harvard’s ability to enroll international students have been met with resistance from the university and the courts, iNews Times reports.
