…El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule were arraigned on charges including alleged abuse of office, fraud.

‎KADUNA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| The Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has fixed April 14 to deliver its ruling on the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking after the court proceedings, El-Rufai’s lead counsel, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), expressed cautious optimism over the outcome of the application.

“My name is Oluwole Iyamu; I lead the defence team for Malam Nasir El-Rufai. The bail application was argued and responded to, and the ruling has been fixed for April 14,” he said, adding that the defence remains hopeful as they await the court’s decision.

Iyamu also disclosed that the legal team is preparing for another case scheduled for April 10 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, describing it as a matter involving the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a dramatic development shortly after the proceedings, El-Rufai was re-arrested within the court premises by operatives of the DSS. Eyewitnesses reported that security personnel, who had maintained a strong presence around the court, swiftly took him into custody moments after the hearing concluded.

Earlier, the former governor had been brought to court by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), who also escorted him from the premises in a white Hilux vehicle following proceedings on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, at a separate Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kawo, El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule were arraigned on charges including alleged abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.

The charges, filed by the ICPC, are distinct from those before the Federal High Court. Following the State High Court session, El-Rufai was transferred to the Federal High Court located within the same premises for continuation of related proceedings.

The case continues to draw attention as the former governor navigates multiple legal battles across different courts, with the upcoming bail ruling expected to shape the next phase of the proceedings.
