‎Market Chairman  raises  alarm over  plans to attack  New Spare parts Market   ‎

‎…The market Chairman stated that, “although the case is in court but those involved want to take laws into their hands”.

‎‎ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Executive Chairman of Nkpor New Spare Parts Market in Idemili North Local Government area of Anambra state, Chief Ofoleh Steven Obiora has raised the alarm over alleged plans by disgruntled elements in the market to carry out malicious damage of properties worth millions of naira.

‎‎Chief Obiora popularly known as Award made this known yesterday while flanked by members of his executive in a press briefing at the market According to him he received credible intelligence that some misguided miscreants had been mobilized to disrupt the ongoing construction of new shops at the market

‎In his statement, ” I received information last night about some people from this market, especially from block C and some other members outside the block, who planned to invade the market this morning in order to maliciously damage the building. This time around, I have to be fast and contacted the relevant authorities, who intervened by sending security operatives to come and arrest the situation “.

‎‎He also noted that it was not the first time such brazen act of destruction and violence had been orchestrated by the group of traders operating behind the scene and if not for his timely intervention with the cooperation of the Mayor of Idemili North Local Govt Council Stanley Nkwoka who deployed security personnel to the scene the situation would have been worse off.

‎‎The Chairman stated that although the case is in court but those involved in causing problems in the market want to take laws into their hands by attempting to demolish the ongoing building constructions without minding what the outcome of their actions will be and the consequences there of.

‎‎Also speaking, the site engineer in charge of the construction pointed out that he had been threatened to stop construction at the site on numerous occasions. He claimed that the threats made some of his workers to withdraw from the work, because of fear and the safety of their lives.

‎‎Chief Ofioleh Obiora further called for calm and asked the traders to go about their businesses without fear or favour even as he maintained that a legal action will be instituted against the group of traders who are behind the plans to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the market since his assumption as the chairman of the market.
