Two suspects arrested in connection of murder of teenager

…suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the teenager claim to be security guards – Police.

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a 17-year-old boy in Onitsha, iNews Times reports.

It was gathered that the suspects, who claimed to be security operatives, opened fire while attempting to arrest a suspect in the Onitsha Main Market.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects started shooting indiscriminately, and regrettably, a bullet hit the innocent boy.

Police operatives attached to the Onitsha Main Market Police Division, with the support of some traders, were able to apprehend the suspects and recover one automatic pump-action gun.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has condemned the actions of the security operatives, describing their behavior as avoidable and unprofessional.

The CP has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and directed the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka.

The police spokesperson in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement and noted that investigation is ongoing.
