Ndiowu Community Hails Soludo Over Restoration of Traditional Stool After 11 Years

…Ndiowu recorded a landmark moment in its history, coming more than a decade after the passing of the former monarch

ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Members of the Ndiowu community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State have elected Chief Chibuzo Okekeifi as Ezediọramma II of Ndiowu, effectively ending an 11-year vacancy on the town’s traditional throne.

The development is being hailed as a landmark moment in the community history, coming more than a decade after the passing of the former monarch, Ezediọramma I, Late Eze O. Udeh. Community leaders and indigenes described the emergence of the new traditional ruler as a restoration of dignity, unity and communal pride.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, a prominent son of Ndiowu and community leader, Chief Joseph Onuorah, popularly known as Deme Deme Na Orumba, described the installation of Ezediọramma II as a decisive turning point for the community, both at home and in the diaspora.

According to Onuorah, the ascension of the new monarch goes beyond occupying a long-vacant stool, noting that it represents the fulfilment of destiny and a unifying milestone that renews hope and strengthens the collective spirit of Ndiowu people.

He also commended Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for creating an enabling environment that made the traditional ruler selection process peaceful, transparent and widely accepted.

“The Ndiowu Eze election is a model worthy of emulation by other communities across the state,” Onuorah said. “The emergence of Ezediọramma II is not just about filling a vacancy; it is a unifying moment that restores dignity and rekindles hope among our people.”

Onuorah further praised the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, TonyCollins Nwabunne, and the Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Retired Captain Casmir Nwafor, for their leadership and administrative guidance, which he said contributed significantly to the credibility and calm that defined the process.

Reaffirming his support for the new monarch, Onuorah pledged the full backing of Ndiowu stakeholders and indigenes to the vision and leadership of Ezediọramma II.

He expressed confidence that the reign of the new monarch would prioritise human capital development, youth empowerment, peacebuilding and sustainable growth, with the aim of repositioning Ndiowu as a model community.

“As Ezediọramma II ascends the ancient throne of our forefathers, we stand firmly behind his commitment to lead Ndiowu into a new era of unity, prosperity and progress,” he said.

Residents of the community have since expressed optimism that the installation of the new traditional ruler will strengthen Ndiowu’s traditional institution, promote harmony among its people and usher in a period of peace and inclusive development across the town and its villages.
