ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Peter Obi, a presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, has donated a total of ₦60 million to two Nigerian universities as part of efforts to promote education and empower young people.
Obi presented ₦30 million to Dominican University during a visit to the institution in Ibadan, Oyo State, and another ₦30 million to Peter University in Anambra State.
The former governor of Anambra State emphasised that education remains one of the most valuable investments any society can make, as it transforms lives, strengthens communities, and equips nations to tackle future challenges.
He noted that he always considers it a privilege to support institutions dedicated to learning, character development, and service to humanity whenever the opportunity arises.
According to him, his visits to the universities were more than ceremonial engagements, but a demonstration of his conviction that higher institutions should inspire young people to look beyond their immediate environment and see themselves as citizens capable of contributing positively to national development.
Obi added that the donations underscore his longstanding advocacy for increased investment in education as a key driver of national growth and social transformation.
