…According Okpebholo, the people of Edo would demonstrate their appreciation to the President through their votes in 2027.
EDO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has declared that he will step down from office if President Bola Tinubu does not secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
Okpebholo made the statement on Friday during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT), where he highlighted ongoing development projects in the state and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances.
According to him, the people of Edo would demonstrate their appreciation to the President through their votes in 2027.
“Edo people have not even thanked Tinubu. The way they will thank him is with their votes,” he said.
He added that the projects executed across the state would speak in Tinubu’s favour and ensure his victory.
“Bet me, if he doesn’t win, I will resign as governor,” Okpebholo stated, insisting that the President faces no real contest in Edo.
Describing himself as a grassroots politician who understudied Chief Aneni, he maintained that his political approach is not rooted in thuggery but in community engagement.
