OYO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Oyo State Police Command on Thursday announced the recovery of 26 stolen cows worth ₦6.25 million and the arrest of two suspected cattle rustlers, Abu Muhammed and Aliu Bello, in Iresaadu, Surulere Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued from Ibadan. He said the suspects were apprehended following a swift response to a report received at the Iresaadu Division.
“Police preliminary investigations indicate the suspects were attempting to hide the stolen cattle when intercepted at Odojaye via Aganyan, Iresaadu,” Ayanlade explained. He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover the remaining livestock.
Ayanlade described the operation as a testament to the effectiveness of proactive policing, intelligence-led investigations, and collaboration with community security agencies.
He said the suspects had admitted their involvement and provided valuable information on the criminal network. The spokesman also commended members of the public for timely tips that led to the arrests and urged residents to continue providing credible information to support ongoing investigations and enhance community safety.
