Soludo Bolsters Security in Anambra with 30 Patrol Cars

…Soludo described the handover as part of the state government’s ongoing support for the Nigeria Police Force in its efforts to enhance security

ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Anambra State Police Command has received 30 Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles from the state government, in a move aimed at strengthening security operations and improving public safety across Anambra State.

A press statement by the police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, noted that the vehicles were formally presented by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo at the Old Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, on Thursday.

Governor Soludo described the handover as part of the state government’s ongoing support for the Nigeria Police Force in its efforts to enhance security and ensure the safety of residents.

During the event, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, also introduced 28 newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police from Anambra, who completed their training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, and were recently inducted into the Officers’ Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.

SP Ikenga explained that the addition of the patrol vehicles, together with the deployment of the newly commissioned officers, would significantly boost police visibility, response times, and overall operational efficiency across the state.

Governor Soludo urged the officers to uphold the ideals and values of Anambra State, emphasizing discipline, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to duty as key to sustaining peace and security. He also reiterated that the vehicle donation reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting the police in their mission to safeguard communities.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Secretary to the State Government, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, the Chief of Staff, senior police officers, and other stakeholders.

Earlier, on July 29, 2025, it was reported that the Anambra State Police Command had received a new Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) to enhance operational effectiveness. CP Orutugu expressed optimism that the APC would improve the Command’s capacity to tackle emerging security threats, praising the Nigeria Police Force leadership for the timely provision of the vehicle.
