…Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to release final squad list for the competition early next week.
RABAT, MOROCCO – The iNews Times | The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles will open camp on Sunday, November 9, in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff mini-tournament.
According to the NFF, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is expected to release his final squad list for the competition early next week as preparations intensify.
Nigeria will face Gabon’s Panthers in the first semi-final of the playoffs on Thursday, November 13. The winner of that encounter will advance to meet either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final.
CAF is scheduled to conduct a draw later today (Thursday) to determine the official match venues for both semi-final fixtures and the final showdown.
Two major facilities in Rabat, the El Barid Stadium and the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, have already been shortlisted to host the tournament games.
A senior NFF official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the federation is “fully committed to giving the Super Eagles a smooth preparation environment” as the team seeks to secure its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“All logistics for the team’s camp, travel, and training sessions in Morocco have been finalized. The focus now is total readiness and a winning mentality,” the source said.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded 48-team format, making the playoff battles across Africa even more competitive.
