Tanker Explosion Leaves Two Dead in Anambra  ‎

‎…the explosion claimed the lives of the tanker driver and his conductor,

‎‎ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Two people were killed on Sunday after a fuel tanker exploded opposite the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office along the Ihiala–Onitsha Road in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

‎The Anambra State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs Bridget Asekhauno, confirmed the incident to journalists in Awka.

‎Asekhauno said the crash involved a commercial tanker without a registration number, conveying inflammable materials, and a motorcycle, also without registration.

‎According to eyewitness accounts, the tanker driver, who was allegedly speeding, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a roadside barricade, triggering an explosion that also affected a motorcycle following behind.

‎She explained that the explosion claimed the lives of the tanker driver and his conductor, while the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was rescued.

‎In all, three adult males were involved in the incident, with two fatalities recorded and one injured victim taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, for medical attention.

‎The sector commander noted that FRSC rescue operatives, in collaboration with fire service personnel, responded swiftly to the scene and successfully put out the fire.

‎She expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and advised motorists to obey speed limits and drive attentively to avoid preventable accidents.
