…speaking at ECOWAS 50th anniversary Tinubu emphasized the need for tangible progress
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on ECOWAS leaders to move beyond promises and take concrete actions that benefit the people, particularly youths and women, iNews Times reports.
Tinubu while speaking at the ECOWAS 50th anniversary celebration in Lagos, emphasized the need for tangible progress.
He acknowledged the regional body’s achievements in trade, peacekeeping, and unity, but stressed that more needs to be done.
“We are lagging behind on implementation” he noted.
The President urged leaders to support youths and women by providing opportunities in education, business, and leadership.
“We must mentor them. Their success is the key to the future,” he said.
Adding that the goal is to “hand a banner without stain to you, the youth of West Africa.”
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to supporting other West African countries through initiatives like the Technical Aid Corps.
Tinubu also expressed support for new ECOWAS projects, including the Infrastructure Master Plan and the Ecogo digital platform, aimed at modernizing the region.
President Tinubu envisioned a West Africa where economies thrive through joint efforts, and people work together towards peace, prosperity, and justice.
