BORNO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Troops of the Joint Task Force North East under Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated eight Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.
Sources disclosed that the operation occurred on Wednesday when troops of Sector 1, Operation Desert Sanity V, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), launched an offensive in the Shehuri community of Konduga Local Government Area.
The operatives reportedly intercepted and engaged the insurgents, overpowering them with superior firepower. Eight terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
No casualties were recorded among the troops or CJTF members. Security operatives also recovered arms and ammunition from the fleeing terrorists.
A senior military officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to brief the media, confirmed the development in Maiduguri on Thursday.
He stated, “Our troops, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, recorded another operational success against terrorists.
“At about 0915 hours on February 25, 2026, troops of Sector 1, alongside CJTF members, carried out offensive operations at Shehuri in Konduga LGA. They intercepted and engaged JAS/ISWAP terrorists. Immediate exploitation followed, leading to the neutralisation of eight insurgents. Recovered items include one AKSM automatic rifle and one pump-action rifle with cartridges and magazines.”
Meanwhile, the general security situation in the area was described as calm but still unpredictable, with the army maintaining high morale and operational effectiveness within their area of responsibility.
