EBONYI, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Mr. Osborne Umahi, son of the Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to contest the chairmanship of Ohaozara Local Government Area ahead of the August 2026 council elections in Ebonyi State.
Osborne, the first son of the minister and currently overseeing his father’s business interests, collected the form at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki. He was accompanied by party stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters from Ohaozara.
At the secretariat, he was welcomed by members of the APC State Executive Committee, led by the state chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoro-Emegha. Okoro-Emegha described Umahi as a capable young politician and businessman, expressing confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and advance development in Ohaozara.
In his remarks, Osborne Umahi thanked the people of Ohaozara for nominating him, pledging to serve diligently, fairly, and without fear or favour if elected. He said youth empowerment would be a key focus of his administration, noting that his own experience as a young person gives him insight into the challenges facing youths in the area.
“My priority will be youth empowerment and the introduction of innovative programmes to create opportunities for young people,” he said.
Osborne also promised to sustain his father’s legacy in infrastructure development, assuring residents that his administration would implement projects with tangible benefits for the local government.
The Ohaozara Local Government chairmanship election is scheduled for August 2026.
