UNIZIK Deputy Vice-Chancellor Election: Varsity Elects New Academic, Admin DVCs

…says the UNIZIK Deputy Vice-Chancellor election was conducted during the 242nd meeting.

Awka, Nigeria – The iNews Times reports that Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has conducted its UNIZIK Deputy Vice-Chancellor election, resulting in the emergence of new Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academic and Administration.

Prof. Alex Chinwuba Asigbo of the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies was elected as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), while Prof. Hilda Osisioma of the Department of Business Administration emerged as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) in the keenly contested UNIZIK Deputy Vice-Chancellor election.

A statement from the Public Relations Unit said the UNIZIK Deputy Vice-Chancellor election was conducted during the 242nd meeting of the University Senate on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The exercise was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.

“Before her election, Prof. Osisioma had served as the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Coordinating) for a period of three months, during which she provided administrative leadership and stability.

“Prof. Asigbo is currently the Director of UNIZIK Commercial Ventures and a former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, bringing with him a wealth of academic and administrative experience to his new role.

“Their emergence through the UNIZIK Deputy Vice-Chancellor election is expected to further strengthen the academic and administrative structure of the University in line with its commitment to discipline, self-reliance, and excellence,” the statement added.
