Awka, Nigeria — The iNews Times | UNIZIK High School ICAN quiz success continues as Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School, Awka, Anambra State, has again demonstrated academic excellence and intellectual competitiveness through its outstanding performance in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Catch-Them-Young Quiz Competition.
The school, represented by Chimga-Uzozie Olive and Uduh Chisimdi, emerged overall winner after defeating five other secondary schools at the Awka District and Society level of the competition.
With its first-place finish, the school secured the opportunity to represent the Awka District and Society at the South-East Zonal Competition held in Enugu State.
At the zonal stage, the school competed with 11 other schools from across the South-East region. The team delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 21 points, the same as the Owerri District team.
This resulted in a tie, which led to a tie-breaker round. After the tie-breaker, the school finished in an impressive overall second position, further strengthening the UNIZIK High School reputation in the region.
One of the UHS teachers, Nwokolo Daniel, who accompanied the winners to the competition, said the victory further reinforces the school’s position as a centre of academic excellence and pride of Anambra and the entire South-East region.
“This exceptional preparation, teamwork, academic strength, and achievement highlight the strong academic culture, discipline, and commitment to excellence that define Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School, Awka.
“Overall, this accomplishment further reinforces the position of the school as a centre of academic excellence and a pride of Awka and the entire South-East region,” he said.
Reacting, the Principal of the school, Mrs Israel Atinuke, congratulated the winners for the feat, attributing it to encouragement from the school management and the teachers’ commitment to building the students’ academic prowess.
She said, “I am delighted to hear the good news of our outstanding success again as a school.
“One thing we do as a school is that we always encourage our students to be bold enough to step out and compete with their counterparts, as it will continue to build their academic prowess and boost their profile.
“We return all glory to God for His impartation of wisdom at all times. Bravo to our queens who represented the school, the teacher who coached them, the Accounting Department, and the entire UHS family.”
