Snoop Dogg Joins Swansea City Ownership in a Surprise Move Into English Football

Snoop Dogg joins Swansea City

…My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City – Snoop Dogg said.

UNITED STATES – The iNews Times reports that American rap superstar Snoop Dogg has entered the world of English football as a co-owner and investor in Swansea City AFC, the Welsh club announced on Thursday, July 17.

The 53-year-old music icon, famed for global hits like “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, joins Real Madrid’s Luka Modric in the club’s ownership group – a bold addition just months after the Croatian legend’s investment in April.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., confirmed his stake in the club following days of speculation triggered by his appearance in Swansea’s new 2025/26 kit on social media.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop said in a statement published on the club’s website. “The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back – just like me.”

Swansea City has been majority-owned by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen since November 2024. The owners believe Snoop Dogg’s global fanbase – over 100 million social media followers – will help elevate the club’s profile and boost its commercial opportunities.

“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile,” the ownership group said.

A mural of Snoop Dogg was unveiled Thursday on the West Stand of the Swansea.com Stadium to mark the landmark partnership.

Sources close to the club say Snoop Dogg’s involvement stems from a personal connection with Cravatt and Cohen. The rapper, who has publicly expressed his love for football over the years, even considered investing in Scottish giants Celtic in 2024.

Swansea City CEO Tom Gorringe hailed the deal as a major step for the club. “We are thrilled to welcome Snoop Dogg as a co-owner and investor. His passion for football is no secret, and we are excited he sees Swansea as the right platform to pursue that passion.”

Swansea finished 11th in the EFL Championship last season and has been fighting for a Premier League return since its relegation in 2018.

The move mirrors a growing trend of celebrity ownership in British football, following the high-profile success of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Welsh rivals Wrexham.

Financial terms of Snoop Dogg’s investment were not disclosed.
