…as Amorim decides against rushing the Argentine defender back into competitive action.
LONDON, ENGLAND – The iNews Times | Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, will be without two players as his side travel to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.
Young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and defender Lisandro Martinez have both been ruled out of the fixture. Mainoo, who has yet to start a league match this season, remained on the bench during United’s 2–2 draw away to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Although Martinez returned to full training last week after a long injury layoff, Amorim has decided against rushing the Argentine defender back into competitive action.
Both players were noticeably absent from the United squad that departed for London on Friday afternoon.
However, there was a positive development as 18-year-old academy talent Jack Fletcher was named in the travelling squad for the first time this season, signaling Amorim’s readiness to give young players an opportunity on the big stage.
Manchester United will be aiming to bounce back from their recent draw and maintain momentum in their pursuit of a top-four spot as they face a Tottenham side also eager to prove a point before their home fans.
