…as Bankulli, insists Don Jazzy removed the plate number of his crashed vehicle and escaped the scene.
London, United Kingdom — The iNews Times | Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy has clarified the long-rumoured UK police case linked to his early career, debunking claims that he fled an accident scene as recently alleged by former associate Bankulli.
Bankulli, speaking at an event, had recounted a story suggesting that Don Jazzy removed the plate number of a crashed vehicle and escaped before police arrived an account that quickly went viral and sparked debate online.
According to Bankulli, Don Jazzy had fallen asleep behind the wheel while returning from a show, crashed the car, and abandoned it to avoid hefty towing and repair costs. The revelation triggered concern among fans, with an X user warning that “a 20-year-old case” could be reopened if Don Jazzy travelled to the UK.
In his response, the urged the public to “relax,” insisting the story had been misrepresented. He explained that he did not evade law enforcement, but rather waited for officers who conducted a breathalyzer test to confirm he was not driving under the influence.
He said the police later impounded the vehicle, and he chose not to retrieve it because the fine exceeded the car’s worth.
“Lol no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly,” Don Jazzy wrote. “I actually waited for the police… I wasn’t drunk, but the car was impounded. The fine to collect the car back was more than the cheap car, so I left it with them.”
