Adams Oshiomhole blasts Rotimi Amaechi over Rail to Niger Republic

…says Amaechi’s record in office was marred by actions that undermined governance.

Abuja, Nigeria — The iNews Times, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has launched a scathing attack on former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of poor judgment, failed leadership, and misplaced priorities during his tenure under the Buhari administration. Oshiomhole made the remarks on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

According to Oshiomhole, Amaechi’s record in office was marred by actions that undermined governance, including the shutdown of the Rivers State judiciary.
“Rotimi Amaechi is the most terrible,” he said. “A guy who shut down Rivers judiciary because he wanted to appoint his own favourite as chief judge. Once he couldn’t have his way, the judiciary was shut down for almost two years.”

He also criticised Amaechi’s management of Nigeria’s railway sector, alleging that despite eight uninterrupted years in office, the former minister failed to set meaningful priorities.
“Look at the crisis in the railway system that he superintended over. He was unable to get the priorities right, playing to the gallery,” Oshiomhole said.

The former APC national chairman questioned Amaechi’s decision to build rail infrastructure toward Niger Republic instead of strategic Nigerian routes.
“Which goods are we sending to Niger Republic?” he asked. “He rather constructed a rail, not to Kano, not to Port Harcourt where he came from, but to Niger Republic.”

Oshiomhole insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari never interfered with the duties of his appointees, suggesting that Amaechi had full autonomy and should be held responsible for his choices.
“If you were a minister under Buhari, you will be fair to him, life or death, that Buhari gave anyone he appointed free hand to do the job he assigned to you,” he said.
