ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Nigerian Army has announced the opening of applications for Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply for officer commissions.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Army said the DSSC programme is open to civilians as well as serving military personnel with relevant professional qualifications.
Candidates who are successful will be commissioned into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army to contribute their expertise to national defence and security operations.
The statement listed the available corps to include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.
Applications, which are free, must be submitted online, with the portal scheduled to open from January 7 to February 4, 2026. Prospective applicants were advised to apply early and ensure accurate submission of all required details.
