ANAMBRA,NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Anambra State Police Command has pledged to uphold peace, enforce lawful directives, and prevent any disruptions to public order throughout the state.
This was stated by the command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Awka. He noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, visited Onitsha to strengthen public safety, order, and community confidence.
The iNews Times recalls that Governor Chukwuma Soludo ordered the indefinite closure of Onitsha markets on Monday during an unscheduled inspection.
Ikenga explained that the commissioner is conducting a security assessment tour, overseeing the deployment of police-led joint security teams at key locations.
“This proactive approach highlights our commitment to maintaining peace, ensuring adherence to lawful directives, and preventing any breaches of public order,” he said.
He further assured that the security situation in Onitsha remains calm, reassuring residents, traders, and commuters of their safety.
