Kano Records One of Deadliest Road Accidents as Over 30 Perish

‎…The governor directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure free and adequate medical treatment for all injured persons

‎‎KANO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Tragedy was recorded in Kano State on Sunday as over 30 persons were reportedly killed in a fatal road accident at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area.

‎The crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday when a trailer travelling toward Gujungu allegedly lost control due to reckless driving and crashed, leaving several passengers with severe injuries.

‎Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, confirmed the incident through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, in which he expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims.

‎The governor directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure free and adequate medical treatment for all injured persons receiving care in various hospitals. He also mandated the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs to assess the situation and provide necessary support to affected families.

‎Describing the incident as painful and devastating, Governor Yusuf prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of those injured. He further urged motorists, especially operators of heavy-duty vehicles, to shun reckless driving and strictly observe traffic laws to avert future tragedies.

‎As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was yet to release an official statement, while attempts to contact its spokesperson, Abdullahi Labaran, proved unsuccessful.

‎The tragic accident has sparked widespread concern across the state, once again drawing attention to persistent road safety challenges and the need for stricter traffic enforcement.
