‎…the police confirmed the recovery of two decomposing female bodies believed to be among three missing Cameroonian women,

‎‎ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four more suspects in connection with the killing of three Cameroonian nationals in the state.

‎The victims were reportedly abducted and murdered in November 2025, with their bodies dumped in a river in Anambra West Local Government Area. Days later, police operatives discovered their decomposing remains floating in the river, prompting a full-scale investigation.

‎Initial findings led to the arrest of two suspects who had been providing useful information to investigators. According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confessions from the two suspects in custody paved the way for the arrest of four additional suspects on February 13, 2026.

‎Ikenga said the suspects were apprehended at a shrine in Nando, Anambra East LGA, after a gun battle with security operatives. During the operation, officers recovered two pump-action guns, a locally made Beretta pistol, a machete, assorted charms, and various ammunition.

‎The police spokesman identified the suspects as the alleged chief priest of the shrine, Chukwuemeka Emmanuel, also known as “Ugoebenajah,” 27; Nwabunne Bright, 27; Chinecherem Chiama, 21; and Michael Ekwunife, 38.

‎He explained that operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, stormed the shrine following intelligence from the earlier suspects. On arrival, about 30 able-bodied men were reportedly gathered at the premises and allegedly opened fire on the police. The operatives responded, engaging them in a gun duel.

‎The prime suspect, Uchenna Mmaduamaka Nicholas, said to be from Oroma Etiti Anam, escaped with other gang members despite sustaining gunshot wounds. One of the arrested suspects was injured during the exchange of fire and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

‎The command stated that the suspects in custody are undergoing interrogation, while efforts continue to track down fleeing members of the gang. It also urged residents to provide credible information to support ongoing investigations, assuring that further updates will be communicated.

‎Earlier, on November 29, 2025, the police confirmed the recovery of two decomposing female bodies believed to be among three missing Cameroonian women, whose disappearance had raised suspicions of kidnapping. The investigation subsequently led to the arrest of two suspects, while another was declared at large.
