JOS, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Gunmen have reportedly killed two teenage herders and slaughtered three cattle in Plateau State.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Jos, the Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), through its Chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, said the attack occurred on Saturday evening in Jol village, Riyom Local Government Area.
Babayo identified the victims as Muhammad Sani and Furuk Bilyaminu, noting that Bilyaminu’s body was still missing as of the time the statement was released. He said the teenagers were grazing their cattle when they were shot by the gunmen, who also killed three of the animals.
MACBAN described the attack as “senseless,” alleging that it was part of a pattern of targeted assaults against herders in the state.
“As a law-abiding association, we have reported the incident to security agencies, including the Department of State Services, the Police, and Operation Safe Haven (formerly Operation Enduring Peace), for immediate intervention,” Babayo said.
He added that the group is calling for protection and justice, urging both the state and federal governments to take swift action to safeguard its members and their livestock.
