‎…“Two bodies were discovered in the community on Sunday with gunshot injuries.

‎‎LAGOS, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Two suspected cult members, identified simply as Monday and Efe, have been shot dead in a renewed outbreak of cult violence in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

‎iNews Times gathered that the incidents occurred on Sunday at separate locations within the community, sparking tension among residents.

‎A source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, disclosed that the victims were found with gunshot wounds.

‎“Two bodies were discovered in the community on Sunday with gunshot injuries. We later learnt that the killings were allegedly carried out by suspected cultists in what appeared to be a reprisal by rival groups. The police later evacuated the corpses,” the source said.

‎An anti-cultism platform, Confra Naija, alleged in a post on X that one of the deceased, Monday, was a former chairman of the Neo Black Movement at Alaba International Market and was regarded by some as a longstanding leader of the Aye confraternity in the area.

‎The platform further claimed that Monday had been a target for some time, noting that a close associate of his, also described as a former Aye leader, was killed in March last year.

‎According to Confra Naija, the second victim, Efe, was also an alleged leader of the Neo Black Movement in Ojo, although he was reportedly not a regular presence in the community.

‎The platform alleged that Efe was attacked while charging his phone outside during a power outage, claiming that suspected members of a rival cult group accosted and shot him.

‎Videos circulating online and sighted by iNews Times showed one of the victims lying inside what appeared to be an electronics shop as gunshots rang out, while another clip captured a man lying motionless with visible gunshot wounds.

‎Reacting to the development on X, a user identified as Roland Inuedo decried the rising wave of violence in Ojo and its environs.

‎As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Calls and a text message sent to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, were not answered.

‎Cult-related clashes have continued to pose security challenges in parts of Lagos, despite sustained efforts by security agencies to curb the menace.

‎In September 2025, reports indicated that residents of Orita Adeba in Lakowe and Sangotedo were gripped by fear following suspected cult clashes that left two young men dead in separate reprisal attacks.
