ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Vice President Kashim Shettima will formally receive Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The state APC Chairman, Tukur Maikatako, disclosed that Shettima is scheduled to visit Gusau, the state capital, on Tuesday for the reception.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau on Saturday, Maikatako said Shettima would lead the party’s national leadership at the event.
He noted that the move reflects the APC’s drive for unity and political inclusiveness in Zamfara.
“This visit presents an opportunity to welcome back a former member who has rejoined the party. Our aim is to strengthen the APC in Zamfara and ensure members work together for the development of the state and the country,” he said.
Maikatako urged party members to put aside internal divisions and focus on shared objectives, stressing that unity would boost the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
“Governor Lawal’s return shows that the APC remains a platform for those committed to good governance and development.
“I call on all members across the 147 wards in the 14 local government areas to turn out in large numbers on Tuesday to receive the Vice President, as the visit is aimed at strengthening and expanding the party’s base ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he added.
He reiterated that the party remains committed to collective progress, urging members to mobilise support at the grassroots to promote unity and growth.
