Ogere, Ogun State, Nigeria — The iNews Times reports that an Ibadan-Lagos Expressway accident involving two heavy-duty trucks has left five persons injured near Foursquare Camp, triggering significant traffic disruption along one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.
The late-night Ibadan-Lagos Expressway accident, which occurred at about 10:17 p.m. on Monday, involved a black CNHTC HOWO truck with registration number TTD-145ZY, loaded with iron rods, and an unregistered white Sinotruck carrying unidentified materials.
According to an official statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, Odunsi Afolabi, the crash was caused by speed violations (SPV) and loss of control (LOC).
Providing details of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway accident, Afolabi disclosed that a total of seven adult males were involved in the collision.
“A total of seven (7) adult males were involved in the accident. We are pleased to report that there were zero fatalities. Five (5) persons sustained varying degrees of injuries,” the statement read.
The absence of fatalities in the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway accident has been described as a relief, given the severity of crashes often recorded along the corridor, which serves as a major commercial and commuter link between Lagos and other parts of the country.
