ABIA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden death of a medical expert, Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani, following a brief illness.
Dr. Nwaubani had travelled from the United States of America to Abia State to participate in the ongoing free medical outreach organised by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas. She reportedly developed a medical emergency during the exercise and was rushed to a hospital, where she later passed away despite efforts by a medical team to save her life.
In a statement personally signed by the governor, Otti described her death as a painful loss, noting that she had come to render selfless service to the people of the state.
He highlighted that Dr. Nwaubani arrived in Nigeria with her husband and daughter, a final-year medical student, to offer free healthcare services, an act he described as a reflection of her compassion and dedication to humanity.
The governor extended his condolences to her family, loved ones, and the ANPA community, acknowledging the significant impact of her contributions.
Otti also commended the resilience of her family and colleagues for continuing the outreach programme despite the tragic loss, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and prioritising the well-being of Abia residents.
