ONITSHA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | UDUF Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to raising a new generation of ethical, innovative and globally competitive leaders through structured mentorship, entrepreneurship development and leadership training programmes aimed at transforming young Africans into economically empowered change-makers.

The pledge was made by the President-Elect of the organisation, Comrade Uchenna Christopher, during the UDUF Africa May Business Meeting and Mentorship Session held at Onitsha Business School, GRA, Onitsha, Anambra State.

The event brought together young entrepreneurs, professionals and emerging leaders focused on innovation, enterprise development and sustainable economic growth across Nigeria’s evolving business landscape.

In this report, we examine the key developments, reactions from stakeholders, and the broader implications.

Background of the Story

UDUF Africa https://www.udufafrica.org is a youth-driven platform dedicated to leadership development, entrepreneurship empowerment and community transformation across Africa.

The organisation is positioning itself as a continental movement aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world wealth creation, particularly for young people navigating economic uncertainty and competitive global markets.

The Onitsha session reflects a growing wave of youth-focused initiatives in Nigeria that emphasise practical skills, mentorship and business sustainability over theoretical learning alone.

Key Developments

Speaking at the event, Comrade Uchenna Christopher described UDUF Africa as a fast-growing organisation committed to producing ethically grounded and globally relevant leaders.

He stressed that the platform is not only focused on local impact but also on preparing young Africans to compete effectively in international business and leadership environments.

The programme was themed “Turning Knowledge into Wealth: Practical Strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Young Entrepreneurs,” and focused on equipping participants with actionable tools for building sustainable businesses.

Discussions centred on how young entrepreneurs can convert knowledge into economic value while navigating Nigeria’s challenging economic conditions.

A major highlight of the session was a presentation by seasoned professional, Justin A. Okaro, Chairman of Okaro and Associates, Estate Surveyors and Valuers.

Okaro delivered practical insights on entrepreneurship, wealth creation and business sustainability, drawing from over 40 years of experience in real estate and legal practice.

He shared his personal journey, openly reflecting on challenges, setbacks and difficult economic seasons he endured throughout his career.

Despite those challenges, he emphasised that discipline, consistency, resilience and continuous learning remain critical pillars for long-term success.

His story strongly resonated with participants, many of whom described his experience as a real-life demonstration of survival and professional growth in a volatile economy.

The programme also featured a book review of How Successful People Grow, facilitated by Comrade Mgbadigha Miracle Chisom, Chief Executive Officer of Torcle Agro Ventures Ltd.

The review highlighted key principles of intentional growth, leadership discipline and personal responsibility as essential drivers of success in business and life.

Reactions from Stakeholders

Founding President of UDUF Africa, Ezuma Smart Chinedu, reaffirmed the organisation’s long-term vision of empowering young Africans through mentorship, leadership training, volunteerism and entrepreneurship development.

He said UDUF Africa is building a continental network that connects young leaders to opportunities, knowledge and professional ecosystems that enhance global competitiveness.

“UDUF Africa continues to stand as a movement where knowledge is transformed into wealth, and where young African leaders are equipped to shape the future with vision, resilience, and global relevance,” he said.

Participants at the event also expressed optimism, noting that the mentorship session provided practical strategies for business development, financial discipline and leadership advancement.

Many attendees described the engagement as timely, especially given the economic realities facing young entrepreneurs across Nigeria.

Implications

The UDUF Africa initiative reflects a growing shift in youth development strategy across Nigeria, moving from motivational engagement to structured economic empowerment and leadership capacity building.

Analysts say such platforms could play a key role in reducing youth unemployment by equipping participants with practical entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

The focus on SMEs and wealth creation aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen private-sector-driven growth and innovation among young people.

However, experts also stress that long-term impact will depend on scalability, funding support and sustained mentorship structures beyond single events.

What Happens Next

UDUF Africa is expected to expand its mentorship programmes across more states, with plans to deepen partnerships with professionals, entrepreneurs and institutions.

The organisation aims to strengthen its continental presence while building a stronger ecosystem for youth leadership development and economic empowerment.

Further engagements are expected as interest grows among young Nigerians seeking practical pathways to business success and leadership growth.

The iNews Times will continue to follow developments around UDUF Africa and similar youth-driven initiatives shaping Africa’s future leadership landscape.

Conclusion

The Onitsha mentorship session underscores a rising movement focused on transforming young Africans from knowledge seekers into wealth creators and ethical leaders.

Through its UDUF Africa platform, the organisation is positioning itself as a catalyst for long-term leadership development and economic empowerment.

As participants leave with renewed motivation and practical insights, the real test remains in translating these lessons into sustainable impact within their communities.
