…the mandatory campaign fee grants the candidates the right to deploy their campaign materials.

As political campaign begins today June 11, 2025 ahead of November 6, 2025 Governorship Election in Anambra State, each political party  fielding a candidate is to pay 50 million naira into the State Government’s account as statutory fee for campaign permit, iNews Times reports.

This mandatory campaign fee grants the parties the right to deploy their campaign materials and activities using Posters, Public Address Systems, Branded Vehicles, Banners, Fliers, Buntings, T-shirts, Caps, Street Storms, Rallies and Sundry in locations across the cities, villages and communities of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

This amount excludes expenditures made for campaign billboards and other political materials.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), Mr Tony Odili Ujubuono stated this during a Press Briefing on the Out-of-Home Promotions and Visual Campaign Guidelines for Political Parties Campaign for Anambra State Gubernatorial Election 2025.

He noted that all campaign materials intended for outdoor display by political parties and candidates, advertising agencies and advertising practitioners must be vetted by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) before they are posted.

Mr Ujubuonu advised all political parties and candidates to work with ARCON-registered practitioners to avoid sanctions or removal of unapproved materials.

“The purpose of this permit is to ensure orderliness, prevent visual pollution, create a level playing ground for alland maintain professional standards in the use of public advertising and visual promotion space and above all, to protect our public infrastructures.

“We appeal to all political parties, their supporters, and the general public to be considerate of other users of the advertising and visual promotion space in the state and refrain from defacing the campaign materials of opponents. Such actions are unacceptable and contrary to the principles of fair democratic engagement.

“Please also be informed that no individual, political party, or support group is permitted to erect billboards or any advertisement structures in any part of Anambra State. Only advertising practitioners registered and licensed by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON)-a Federal Government agency-are authorized to erect and manage such structures within the State,

as permitted by ANSAA,” Ujubuonu affirmed.

As whether the 50 million naira is meant to stifle opposition, the ANSAA Boss said it is meant for all the political parties fielding candidates in the election including Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s APGA.

This, he said, arose because the agency is run as a business having been empowered to issue permits and licenses for the construction and deployment of signage and advertisements, ensure environmental aesthetics, and collect the appropriate revenues on behalf of the State Government.

He urged all candidates, their supporters, and the general public to avoid violence, provocation, and any form of unprofessional conduct as it relates public promotion, advertising and campaign.

The inewstimes reports that by this, the Anambra State Government will get 800 million naira from 16 political parties upon payment of 50 million naira for their campaign permit.
