…the group dismissed claims that Abiodun manipulated or influenced the selection process for the Ogun East senatorial ticket.
OGUN, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| A pro-government group has strongly defended Governor Dapo Abiodun, rejecting allegations contained in a recent article as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a statement issued by Dr. Arabambi Abayomi, the group dismissed claims that the governor manipulated or influenced the selection process for the Ogun East senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 elections. The statement described the report, authored by Wale Onifade, as “mischievous” and lacking credible evidence.
According to the group, the stakeholders’ meeting held in Ijebu-Ode, where Abiodun was reportedly endorsed, was a legitimate gathering of party leaders, including elected officials and party executives across the Ogun East zone.
The statement also questioned allegations of bribery involving hundreds of attendees, noting that no verifiable evidence, such as names, documents, or financial records, had been presented to support the claims.
Highlighting the governor’s record, the group pointed to developments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and aviation, including the construction of the Gateway International Airport and ongoing economic initiatives in the state.
It further dismissed suggestions of any rift between Abiodun and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing such claims as speculative and unfounded.
The group urged the public to disregard what it called “politics of misinformation,” stressing that political discourse should be guided by facts and evidence rather than anonymous sources and unverified allegations.
It concluded by calling for restraint in the political space, noting that the 2027 elections should be decided by voters at the ballot, not by unsubstantiated media narratives.
