Moghalu Dumps Labour Party

‎…Moghalu expressed gratitude to the party at the ward, state and national levels

‎‎ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Dr George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2025 Anambra State election, has officially withdrawn his membership from the party.

‎The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority announced his resignation in a letter dated January 26, 2026, which he personally signed and submitted to the Labour Party Chairman in his ward, Uruagu, Nnewi, Anambra State.

‎A copy of the letter obtained by our correspondent shows that Moghalu expressed gratitude to the party at the ward, state and national levels for offering him the platform to contest the November 2025 off-cycle governorship election in the state.

‎The resignation, which takes effect immediately, was communicated in a respectful and appreciative manner, with Moghalu acknowledging the support and cooperation he received from party leaders and members throughout the campaign period.

‎Part of the letter read, “I convey the warm regards of my family as I formally notify you of my resignation from the Labour Party, effective January 26, 2026. I also thank the party, through you, for the opportunity to contest the most recent governorship election in our state under its platform.

‎“Please accept my sincere regards and kindly extend the same to party members.”

‎It was earlier reported that Moghalu rejected the outcome of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election.
