BENIN, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has announced the release of the November/December 2025 NBC/NTC and ANBC/NANTC examination results, revealing that 60 per cent of candidates achieved five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Board’s headquarters in Benin City, Edo State, NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Muhammed Muhammed, disclosed that a total of 61,591 candidates made up of 34,185 males and 27,406 females registered for the examinations across 2,079 centres nationwide.
According to him, 54,009 candidates secured five credits and above, with or without Mathematics and English Language, accounting for 94.74 per cent of the total number of candidates who sat for the examinations.
Dr. Muhammed described the outcome as an improvement on the 2024 results, noting that only 259 candidates, representing 0.42 per cent, were implicated in cases of examination malpractice.
NABTEB further stated that the 2025 enrolment witnessed significant growth, with candidate registration increasing by 28.42 per cent and the number of examination centres rising by 13.92 per cent, reflecting growing public confidence in its examinations.
He explained that the total number of registered candidates comprised 57,444 O-Level and 4,147 A-Level candidates.
Providing a comparison with the 2024 November/December examination, Dr. Muhammed noted that 29,880 candidates, representing 67.56 per cent, obtained five credits and above including Mathematics and English Language, while 42,431 candidates, or 95.94 per cent, achieved five credits and above with or without the two core subjects.
On subject performance, he said Engineering Trades recorded a 76.84 per cent success rate, with Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works being the most popular choice. Construction Trades achieved 79.32 per cent, largely driven by interest in Bricklaying and Blocklaying. Miscellaneous Trades posted a 77 per cent performance, with Catering Crafts Practice attracting the highest number of candidates, while Business Trades recorded a 52.07 per cent performance, with Bookkeeping emerging as the most preferred subject.
