ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday suffered fresh defections in the House of Representatives, with six of its lawmakers switching allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), just 24 hours after the party lost four members to rival parties.
The Labour Party also suffered setbacks, with five of its members leaving the party amid growing political realignments ahead of the next election cycle.
During plenary, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, announced the PDP and LP defections, linking the wave of cross-carpeting to persistent internal crises within the opposition parties.
Those who left the PDP for the APC include Bitrus Kwamoti, Zakaria Nyampa, James Barka and Kobis Thinmu, all representing constituencies in Adamawa State, as well as Mohammed Bargaja from Sokoto State and Midala Balami from Borno State.
