…says the inclusion of these Governors into the APGA family will further strengthen its resolve to make a positive impact in the lives of Nigerians.

The iNews Times reports that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has taken a significant step towards expanding its political footprint by welcoming two prominent governors into its fold.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has mandated a high-powered delegation, led by Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Uche Nwegbo, to commence the process of integrating Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Alex Otti of Abia State into the APGA family.

According to a statement signed by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, PhD, the NWC’s decision was reached at its 16th meeting held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

The statement reads: “APGA, known for its commitment to the welfare of the poor and vulnerable, remains steadfast in its mission to leave no one behind. The Party’s leadership believes that the inclusion of these Governors will further strengthen its resolve to make a positive impact in the lives of Nigerians. The National Working Committee’s decision is a testament to APGA’s commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive platform for progressive governance in Nigeria.”

The potential alliance between APGA and the two governors could significantly alter the political dynamics in Nigeria, particularly in the Southeast region.

Governors Mbah and Otti’s decision to join APGA would not only bolster the party’s influence but also potentially reshape the opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

Alex Otti, governor of Abia State under the Labour Party, has been making waves with his governance style, which emphasizes merit and inclusivity.

Similarly, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has been recognized for his efforts in driving development and progress in his state.

There have been previous speculations about Governor Otti’s potential defection, with some leaders from the PDP and APGA expressing support for him. However, the Labour Party has dismissed claims of Otti’s defection, stating that he has assured them he will stay with the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The development has sparked interest and speculation about the potential implications for the political landscape in Nigeria.

As the party continues to build its coalition, it remains to be seen how this move will affect the party’s fortunes in the 2027 elections, The iNews Times reports.
