The iNews Times reports that the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP), Anambra State Command has secured the conviction of a 44-year old woman, Goodness Amaka Daniel, for trading in human beings.
The judgement was delivered on June 27 2025 by the State High Court, Awka Judicial Division.
Delivering judgment on the matter brought against the defendant, the High Court convicted the defendant for trading in humans.
The court, presided over by Justice Peace Otti, sentenced her to 5-years imprisonment with option of fine in the sum of ₦2million.
It also mandated her to disgorge ₦2.6million to the victim/prosecution witness.
Daniel was arraigned since July 9, 2024 for buying or selling of human beings contrary to Section 21 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
