ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Super Eagles Supporters Club has officially inaugurated its Anambra State chapter and warmly welcomed the National President, Prince Vincent Okumagba, during a vibrant ceremony at the Onitsha Sports Club in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Held on Monday, the dual celebration drew football enthusiasts, sports administrators, and members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club from Lagos, highlighting the unifying power of football in Nigeria.
Prince Okumagba described football as a force that transcends tribe, culture, religion, and social class, bringing Nigerians together. While inaugurating the Anambra State Executive of the supporters club, he said:
“Football speaks the language of love, competition, and peaceful coexistence. As Super Eagles supporters, our role is to provide moral support and cheer them wherever they play, home or abroad, win or lose. We are the 12th man on the field.
“We appreciate football lovers across the country for their unwavering support of the Super Eagles and sports development in general. We encourage everyone to join this movement and keep the spirit of unity alive through football. We also commend the Federal Government and the National Sports Commission for their continued support, including funding our recent trip to Morocco.”
Chief Kingsley Uduh, the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Anambra State chapter, described the event as a “new beginning” for the chapter. He pledged openness to all state indigenes and promised to lead with honesty and transparency, ensuring that members receive their due benefits fairly.
Representing the Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Commission, Patrick Oyedum, Director Emeka Obidinma assured the club of government support and encouraged the new executive to lead with love and unity, emphasizing these as the core values of football.
Other speakers included Ada Edward, Vice Chairperson of the Anambra State Chapter, and Chief Victor Aniekwena, Vice Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, who also served as Chairman for the occasion.
The event featured musical performances, the formal decoration of the new executive members, presentation of gifts to the National President, and the cutting of the inaugural cake.
