Bwala: Peter Obi Has No Political Home, ADC Not an Option

…Bwala argued that Obi lacks the political strength to lead or coordinate any coalition,

ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has asserted that former Anambra State governor Peter Obi will not clinch either the presidential or vice-presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In his statement, Bwala argued that Obi lacks the political strength to lead or coordinate any coalition, including serving as its director-general. He claimed that since the 2023 general election, Obi has lost control of the political structure he once commanded and now wields little influence in the country’s political landscape.

Bwala questioned Obi’s relevance, noting that the former Labour Party presidential candidate no longer enjoys the support of serving governors or elected officials, and that lawmakers who once aligned with him have largely drifted away.

He further alleged that candidates backed by Obi have consistently failed in subsequent elections nationwide, insisting that none recorded meaningful victories.

The presidential aide also criticised Obi’s supporters on social media, accusing them of attacking opponents while overlooking what he described as Obi’s history of frequent party switches. He listed Obi’s political movement from the PDP to APGA, back to the PDP, and later to the Labour Party, describing this as hypocrisy on party loyalty.

According to Bwala, Obi is now politically adrift, caught between the ADC and the Labour Party. He maintained that Obi would not emerge as either the presidential or vice-presidential candidate of the ADC and predicted that he would contest the next general election on a different platform altogether.

Bwala also suggested that Obi would struggle to replicate his 2023 performance, when he polled over six million votes, describing his rise as the result of a fleeting political moment rather than enduring grassroots support.
