Anambra Teacher Clinches Top Honour at National Education Summit

‎..nine schools from Anambra State received honours at the 2025 President’s and Schools’ Excellence Awards

‎‎ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Anambra State has emerged as the overall best-performing state in the South-East at the 2026 National Teachers Summit Awards, also securing second place nationally.

‎The summit, organised by the Office of the Wife of the President in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education, featured the maiden edition of the award, where Chekwube Ifentike of Government Technical College, Onitsha, Anambra state clinched the top prize.

‎Ifentike was rewarded with a cash prize of ₦25 million.

‎The event, which ends today at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, was held under the theme, “Empowering Teachers, Strengthening the System: A National Agenda for Education Transformation and Sustainability.”

‎Reacting to the achievement on Wednesday, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, expressed delight, attributing the success to the sustained commitment of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to education funding in the state.

‎According to her, the recognition reflects the positive outcomes of consistent investment in Anambra’s education sector. She congratulated Chekwube Ifentike for making the state proud and urged other teachers to emulate the dedication and excellence displayed.

‎It was earlier reported on October 6, 2025, that nine schools from Anambra State received honours at the 2025 President’s and Schools’ Excellence Awards held to commemorate World Teachers’ Day.

‎At the ceremony held at Eagle Square, Abuja, Woliwo Primary School II, Onitsha, won the award for Overall Best School in Nigeria and received a 16-seater bus as the grand prize.

‎Other award recipients included Pinkberry International School, Odume Obosi, which emerged as first runner-up and best approved private primary school in Nigeria.

‎Additionally, Emmanuel Ndibe of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, was named first runner-up for best approved private senior secondary school teacher in Nigeria, while Nkechi Ikedi of Pinkberry International Primary School, Odume Obosi, emerged first runner-up for best approved private primary school teacher in the country.
